Sqirl - you know it, trendy spot. great crispy rice salad (get the works)

Konbi - Japanese style sandwiches in Echo Park. they also have the best croissants (go early in the am before they are sold out)

Destroyer - inventive Scandinavian-style in Culver City

Gjelina - plant forward. great eggs, bread, pizza, pancakes (get the seven grain ones and lemon ricotta)

Gjusta - one of my favorite favorite LA spots. everything is good. take home some bread and pastries after your meal. check out their shop (Gjusta Goods) next door for amazing ceramics

Tartine - a wonderful bakery that serves beyond delicious bread, croissants, pastries, and sweet/savory dishes. their locations in Santa Monica, silver lake, and sycamore differ in menu offerings so be on the look-out.

Lodge - great bread and bakery. they also have tasty food and pizza!

Shaky Alibi - they specialize in tradition Belgian Liege waffles. they are amazing

M & Love Cafe - vegan spot in Manhattan beach with great smoothie (get the Blueberry Basil) and amazing gluten-free bagels

Republique - food is great, bread and pastries great, setting is great

LUNCH/DINNER

Viali dei Romani - upscale Italian in the La Peer Hotel

AOC - serves Californian-French dishes in a warm and inviting space; has a beautiful courtyard as well

MhZh - contemporary Israeli in Silverlake

Wax Paper - great sandwiches in Echo Park

Ceviche Project - they’ve mastered ceviche, obviously

Larchmont Village Wine and Cheese - go to sandwich spot

Son of a Gun - hands down one of my favorite restaurants in LA. order the tuna, grilled peel and eat shrimp, trout almandine, banana bread with coffee ice cream

Pizzeria Il Fico - cozy, simple Italian

Zinqué - casual French-inspired restaurant with a great outdoor space

Badmaash - indian streetfood plus the classics we all know and love

Felix - fantastic Italian spot, if you can snag a reservation
